Seamed steel pipes refer to steel pipes made from steel plates or strips through processes such as curling, forming, welding, or seamless connection. Compared with seamless steel pipes, welded steel pipes have lower manufacturing costs, but their surface is not as smooth as seamless steel pipes, and defects are prone to occur at the welding points, resulting in lower strength and pressure resistance. Seamed steel pipes are mainly used for conveying low-pressure fluids such as water, gas, steam, etc.
1. Strength and pressure resistance: Due to the smooth inner and outer surfaces, seamless interfaces, and no welding lines of seamless steel pipes, their strength and pressure resistance are higher than those of welded steel pipes.
2. Surface smoothness: The inner and outer surfaces of seamless steel pipes are smooth, making them more suitable for conveying high viscosity media, such as petroleum and chemical industries. However, the inner and outer surfaces of welded steel pipes are not as smooth as seamless steel pipes, which can easily cause frictional resistance and sediment, making them more suitable for conveying low viscosity media.
3. Production process complexity: The production process of seamless steel pipes is complex and requires high-precision equipment and technology, resulting in high manufacturing costs. The production process of slotted steel pipes is relatively simple and the manufacturing cost is relatively low.
